Terms of Service
Last updated: 22 June 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Grasshopper Labs (“we”, “us”), which operates Call Dibs at calldibs.uk. By using Call Dibs you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. What Call Dibs is
Call Dibs is a free tool for creating and sharing gift registries. Owners add items (often by pasting links from any shop) and share a link; guests can reserve items so the same gift is not bought twice, and can coordinate group gifts. We provide the coordination tool only.
2. Personal use
Call Dibs is intended for personal, non-commercial use. Using it to run a business, raise funds commercially, or operate a crowdfunding scheme requires our prior written permission.
3. No money changes hands here
This is important: Call Dibs never processes, holds or transfers money. Group gifts are non-custodial: the pledge amounts shown are figures to help guests coordinate, and any actual payment happens directly between those people, off-platform, by whatever means they choose. We are not a bank, payment service, escrow agent or money transmitter, and we take no responsibility for payments, refunds or disputes between users.
We also do not guarantee that any item will be purchased, reserved, contributed towards, delivered, available from a retailer, or suitable for its intended recipient. We are not responsible for any arrangements made between users, for example if a reserved gift is never bought, an item is out of stock, or a group-gift organiser does not follow through.
4. Accounts and access by link
You do not need an account to use Call Dibs. Access is controlled by secret links: a private edit link grants control of a registry, and a share link grants viewing. Anyone who obtains an edit link may be able to modify, delete or share the registry, and anyone with a share link can view it. We cannot verify whether a person using a link is the intended recipient of it, and links are not a secure means of authentication. Keep your edit link private and share the public link only with people you trust. You are responsible for activity that happens through your links. If you create an account, keep your sign-in details secure.
5. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old, or have the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian, to use Call Dibs.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you add: registry details, item descriptions, names and images. You grant us a limited licence to host, store, display and share that content as needed to operate the service (for example, showing your registry to the guests you share it with, and storing a copy of product images you add).
You are responsible for the content you add, and you confirm that:
- you have the right to use and share it;
- any images, text or other materials you upload or submit may lawfully be used by you and hosted by us; and
- it does not infringe anyone’s rights or break the law.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Call Dibs to:
- post unlawful, infringing, hateful, harassing or obscene content;
- solicit money fraudulently or misrepresent who you are;
- upload other people’s personal data without a proper basis to do so;
- spam, send unwanted messages, or abuse the email features;
- probe, scrape, overload, or interfere with the service or its security (including others’ links and tokens); or
- use the service for anything illegal.
8. Our intellectual property
The Call Dibs website, software, branding, logos and other content we provide are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. These terms do not grant you any rights in them except as necessary to use the service.
9. Intellectual property complaints
If you believe content on Call Dibs infringes your intellectual property rights, email hello@calldibs.uk with enough detail to identify the content and your rights. We will investigate and remove or disable infringing content where appropriate.
10. Reporting, suspension and takedown
Anyone can report a registry. We may review reported content and, where we consider it necessary, disable or remove a registry, temporarily or permanently, and contact relevant authorities. We aim to act proportionately, but we may act without prior notice where content is clearly harmful or unlawful.
More generally, we may suspend, restrict or terminate access to Call Dibs, or remove content, at any time where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached, where it is necessary to protect users or the service, or for operational reasons.
11. Third-party shops and links
Call Dibs lets you add items from other shops and websites. We do not operate those sites, do not endorse them, and are not responsible for their products, prices, availability, or content. Any purchase you make is between you and that retailer.
12. Availability
Call Dibs is provided free and “as is”. We work to keep it running but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the service at any time.
13. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost gifts or opportunities, or any payments, refunds or disputes between users (including group-gift contributions). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Subject to applicable law, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to Call Dibs shall not exceed £100.
14. Events beyond our control
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including internet or infrastructure outages, cyber-attacks, industrial disputes, acts of government, or natural disasters.
15. Indemnity
You agree to cover reasonable losses we incur arising from your misuse of Call Dibs or your breach of these terms or of the law.
16. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and forms part of these terms.
17. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the “last updated” date above, and continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
18. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
